PC game covers
So I have probably a couple hundred PC games that are in blank CD jewel cases or proper release CD jewel cases without the boxes that I want to transfer over to DVD cases. I know thecoverproject.net will have a few or so but for the majority I'll either need to have them created from their original box artwork or come up with a generic template I can use to just slap on the game logo and scan of either the front of the manual or CD jewel case insert.

Two of the professional level graphic artists that are gamers have lives and little free time so I'll be on my own here on this. I hate dealing with graphics and I suck at it so having a choice I'd just create the generic template. But we'll see what we can do.

So the reason for this topic is not only to keep a log of this process but also to see who else here may have the PC games complete of what I need to scan the artwork for as the images online are usually horribly compressed or have too much compression noise/dithering. I won't know what I'll need until I go back though what I have. I'm going to start with my loose discs not even in jewel cases first.

NOTE!

The example screenshots of covers I've made are significantly reduced in size.

RE: PC game covers
Here is my list of games needing DVD covers. I'll remove them as I get them. At this point I just need basic covers with the game name on the spine, game logo on the front, and probably a spot for me to put the CDKEYs and system requirements. Here's a link to a template I've found in case anyone is adventurous to try any. Though unfortunately this template I think is for "PC DVD" and not "PC CD" so those would have to be edited as such since almost all if not completely all of these games are on CDs. I'd probably just prefer an MS-DOS or Windows XP/Vista/7 style logo instead of the disc type.

Note, items marked with an * I can scan what I do have (CD jewel case inserts/cover) if it will help.

RE: PC game covers
My first attempt at a custom cover. How’s this look? Honest feedback is appreciated. I don’t have any description text on the top of the back cover so that’s intentionally left blank.

RE: PC game covers
I like the second cover better, probably due to the description on the back cover. But no system requirements? Any way you can combine the description and system requirements on the back cover for both? I also like the "Designed for Microsoft Windows 95" logo. Brings back some cool memories when I bought Windows 95 around launch. It was a big deal for me since I got my first computer, and I wanted something nice for my PC such as a nice GUI operating system. It did come with Windows 3.1. But I didn't like it.

I can put the sys requirements on the Amazon Trail one, no problem. I used Windows 3.11 until we bought Windows 98 on launch. Liked both. Grin I ran Windows 98 until around 2003 when I started using Windows Seever 2003.

RE: PC game covers
Grandia II was hard to find clean artwork to make a custom cover. Until I can find a clean scan of the US box this will have to do.
