Mystic Quest: Silence Status Effect
So there is a Silence Status effect in the game that is fully implemented and working... mostly. If you manually change the RAM adress for the character's status effect to 01, you will be silenced. You can still select spells in battle, but it will say "'player' is silenced" when it is his turn. Outside of battle it will make the usual error sound when trying to select a spell.

For example the wizards cast that purple music circle that doesn't do anything. It tries to apply it but fails.

I tried to fix it and it works, but you can't resist it using resistance equipment. That's because I had to add two Bytes, but am not experienced enough to do that without messing everything up, so I just replaced what I think is just the check for resistance. An experienced hacker may have come up with a better solution.

Other than that it is working just fine from what I can see. And I think having a silence spell that can't be resisted is better than having one that can't be not "resisted".

Here is a video of it. https://youtu.be/mPrbZrb5nEA

That spell has a silence component? The only thing I remember about them is that they put you to sleep.

There are pink and purple versions of the music circles. The pink ones put you to sleep. The purple ones usually just show the graphic effect but don't do anything else. If you have silence resistance equipment it will say (X is strong against silence). The blue flying sword demons even have one with the name "silence song".

What the? It's either different in the european/german version or I know less than I thought about a game that I finished at least 20 times oO

I'm pretty sure that all these guys put you to sleep instead of silencing you.

So you own the German version? The German version is the one I have played as a kid, too. If you are a completinist and do every battlefield, you will get the magic ring before approaching the first encounter with enemies who can silence you. Magic ring has silence resistence, and phoebe has that ring on default. If I remember correctly, in the German version it never says what you are resisting, it just says you resisted the sttack "X widersteht der Attacke". So usually when you encounter the wizards for the first time, it will just say you resisted the attack, and you may think you resisted sleep, you resisted silence though. If you do not pick up the ring before, they will cast it on you and you won't be silenced, put to sleep nor will there be a resistance message nor any other effect.

I think Reuben doesn't have silence resistence, though. So I guess after 20 playthroughs you should have experienced "silence song" getting cast on him by one of the blue flying sword demons, which also shouldn't do anything.

The sleep spell is cast by the female monsters with that stylish snake mantle or whatever that is and has a lighter color.

https://youtu.be/8I4gErSlV6E?t=9m20s Here you can see the spell doing nothing in a normal game. No miss, no resist, no anything.

RE: Mystic Quest: Silence Status Effect
Now that I see it I do remember it, but I guess I never paid enough attention to this detail to really trip about the fact that it does nothing plus I always finished the battlefields as early as possible, so this is probably the reason why I never realized it on the main character.
