The weather thread!
It was upper 70's last weekend but the past two days have consistently been very warm even here for October.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Well I wouldn't call upper 70s unreasonable, but rather unusual - it's called golden october in germany. 97° on the other hand is pretty hardcore, it's like you're still in the mid of summer.
Something similar happened in december in germany last year, normally we have between 20 and 40, but we had at least 50° during the whole winter season, the flowers in our garden began to spread in january because of the very mild winter o_O

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Wow 50 C is pretty warm in Germamy isn't it? I was looking forward to a chilly or mild Oct and Nov but I think we are going to be warm then very cold.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Actually I meant 50°F, I just converted so you get the idea and spare you the need to do it yourself ;)
I would be dead by now if we had 50°C, in fact 25°C is already too warm for me. The perfect temperature in my room is 18°-19°C/64°-66°F.

I'm pretty happy that the temperature is dropping in germany, I didn't really like that very mild winter last year. I'm not sure about your temperature around christmas or new years, but for me it has to be all cold and chilly, so it feels even more cozy at home Grin
It also feels just plain wrong to have sunshine during that time of the year.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
64-66 is too cold!! My bad joints like 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit though with heavier clothing I could stand the mid 60's. :)

We can get really cold and of course really hot here in the Dallas area. It can be 85-90 on a Dec day and in 12 hours be 10 degrees Fahrenheit. That's one reason why most people here get respiratory illnesses and colds pretty frequently.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Well it depends on the humidity if it feels cold or not. Many russians say it feels colder in germany during winter that it feels in siberia with A LOT lower temperatures, just because the humidity is higher, so it feels colder. It also feels colder if it's windy.

Got it, I'll never visit Texas during the winter, it sounds just horrible for me with such temperatures, especially that hardcore temperature drop within just 12h - Do you guys ever have snow over there or is it always like that?

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Oh yea snow and a shit ton of ice. A few years ago we had a snowstorm where there were 18 inches of snow on the ground...that's rare but it isn't unheard of to get a few snow/ice storms of 4-6 inches per winter. Most of the time it's just cold, dry, and windy. Most people do not know this but we are much more windy than Chicago--who people call the "Windy City". Just last Monday we had a quick forming thunderstorm with, are your ready, 90-100 mph straight line winds. Our weatheris so unpredictable and just odd. Are average winds usually are 12-25 mph and usually gusty 30+ during the winter months.

Sounds pretty harsh since you can't really tell what mother nature has in mind for you. One day you're in a sunny mood and there's storm and the next day it's the other way round.

I know it sounds odd but that's the joke around here is the meteorologists just cannot predict our weather.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
I and my joints prefer 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit. I can deal with hot weather but the cold stuff is really what I have a hard time with.

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
Sorry to hear that, it seems like you're the complete opposite of me. I can handle cold weather fairly good, but I don't like too high temperatures, around 72°F is my maximum, everybody above that feels too warm for me.

Hah how funny we are opposites on that. Anything less than 70F is cold. LOL

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
A female friend of mine had the same problem some years ago, she always had to have at least 77°F, anything else below was too cold for her.
I visited her for a month and you could imagine that this was a problem for the both of us.
I often stopped outside on the terrace for a smoke break with her dog Grin

RE: Unreasonably warm for Oct
I prefer cold weather (like in the mid 30s), but any temperature is fine. I've learn to regulate my body where it's hardly noticeable anyways. Like we had a snow storm last Winter that lasted 4 days. Of course, the power was out so my heater wasn't working. It was mostly in the 20s or 30s. So without a heater for days would make most people more than irritated. But it was comfortable for me, I played Super Mario Land and Metroid II on my Game Boy Pocket with candle light and cooked meals on propane. LOL.

I'd take these temperatures immediately. We're expecting 12°C/53°F tomorrow :-/
