I hope you all know how awesome and integral this is to what I/we are doing. Cannot say much else to keep a secret but it'll be worth it.

That sprite was for another mod of mine that never was finished but I will bring that to this mod...already planned on it. Cycle

RE: Final Fantasy VI (secret) project
I just wanted to mention that the project is still active. I've just been slowly catching up since my vacation on work, stuff around the house, and a painful online defensive driving course I've got to do. So no one panic...

This is happening right now. This is the 1st test but overall everything work. Backgrounds can also be edited in Gimp and I made a ROM importer / exporter (palette only though, not the GFX):

That's awesome! I like.

I'm still struggling with getting a magic menu together so that's what's holding up some of my progress. I am also still writing out the dialogue which is time consuming. Grin

Yeah I'm 98% done on the day / night cycle aside of night features we discussed (need more details) and aside of editing background palettes (code for 2nd set of night palettes is done and working though). I only need to to a bit of testing but it took me 2 or 3 near complete rewrites to have code that does not break the game anywhere because of cycle limit per frame, number tied to number of ASM instruction (instructions vary between 2 and 8 cycles I think and there are other things to consider). My last resort approach was to divide color changes in two, a frame does half and next frame does other half. It resolve all possible cycle limit issues and there is no eye difference.

I guess I could start soon the menu with the Slick Forum thread as a reference.

@JCE3000GT: In any case you'd like to try to tweak a BG palette to night-time, it is now pretty easy, well a lot easier than before: https://www.ff6hacking.com/forums/thread-3508.html

Obviously I keep for ourselves the code that does the palette switch for night-time, Mwahahahaha!

So does this mean we can import our own backgrounds too? omghax

That would be epic actually if we could... But at least editing the palettes will be sweet, especially for the castle and grass tilesets. Thumbs Up
